The Gorgeous V2 Ashoka Canggu House in Bali, Indonesia
Here you can see the combination of the Scandinavian traditions with the openness and the materials traditional to Bali that made this Villa successfully completed. Well this is designed as a summer residence for a Hongkong based couple. This house is then called Ashoka Canggu. It is situated in the small Canggu Village. You will get to this house at least for one hour drive north west of Denpasar. The ground floor of this house is an open plan and it is in close contact with the garden and swimming pools. While, this house can still keep the scenic view found all over the rice paddies in the west of the area.
There is a surrounding wall of Balinese stone that is continuously seen inside the house. It also became the main structure of the house since it is used to further blur the boundaries between the indoors and the outdoors. Well this is the same idea they applied to the stone floor which only transforms the surface structure from a rough surface around the swimming pools to a slight matt indoor surface. It is all done to achieve the openness of the house which is so typical for Balinese homes. But it is in contrast to the openness of the ground floor. Also it consists of three master bedrooms.
You can also see here the bathrooms that are inspired by caves. It is kept in a local stone with a large sky window over its shower and bathtub. You will also notice that this villa has a shape of letter “V” because it is the result of the site. It is surrounded by rice paddies, rain forest and a local holy path. The narrow north western part of the site is turned into a long swimming pool. The swimming pool extended the shape of the northern wing. And it ends up in a sun deck which is surrounded by palm trees. Not to forget the stunning look of the green rice paddies enveloped by the rain forest. This house surprisingly has a 300 square meter area. The garden of this house is intended to make the flowers harmonize the traditional Balinese color palette. And it unfolds the said spectrum through the different sections of the garden. The flowers in this garden also add the exquisiteness of the house.
This house is completed this 2012 in Bali Indonesia. It is successfully designed by the Mencke & Vagnby. It extremely acquire the goal of the client. The program designed use was so effective to come up with a house that will match the availability of the site and the nuance of the Balinese home in the interior. The different themes in the interior are so amazing that made this house stand out from the others.
