10 Tips in Keeping Your Pool Safe and Clean

1. Regularly monitor the cleaning system and clarity of pool water.
Once you notice that it doesn’t look good anymore, it would need you to move away from the scheduled cleaning. Sometimes when guests come or when weather conditions become strange, we can’t avoid these instances. This is where you may also start from going through the other tips. As you start skimming the leaves floating in the water, it is also best to be sensitive to what more is needed.
2. Check the water source.
You have to make sure that the tank and the tubes are working well and good. Do this once a week. Make sure that the water level is also monitored about twice a month so proper adjustments may be made if needed.
3. Maintain pool chemistry.
This should be done atleast twice a week. In doing this, you should know the type of chlorine to be used and how much. There’s a required number depending on the area of the pool that you have. Chlorine may also combine with other chemicals which is why you should put some shock treatment to the water about once a week and at night time.
4. Clean the skimmer baskets.
These baskets protect your pool from waste. Clean them once a week or if need be. For outdoor pools, depending on weather conditions, these baskets have to be cleaned pretty often.
5. Check the pump at least twice a month.
Pool pumps keep your pool’s energy efficient. It helps circulate pool water as it acts as the prime motivator. The hair and lint pot must be cleaned atleast twice a month or if need be.
6. Filters should be cleaned.
It is not often that filters undergo clean up. Quarterly cleaning would be best but when need arises like after a storm, it’s better to schedule filter cleaning straight away. This keeps you safe from unwanted chemicals and stuff so it is better cleaned too so it keeps working properly.
7. Clean pool tiles.
You don’t want your to tiles look and feel filthy so it’s better to clean them once a week. Brush the tiles thoroughly. This will also remove growing algae.It is also one way of keeping your pool look as inviting as it usually has been.
8. Check pool area for cracks.
Abrupt action must be taken once you notice cracks within the area. From the deck and the tiles, make sure that you have it cured with a small bead of clear silicon. It is not advisable for water to start dripping or worse – flowing from the pool through the cracks
9. Make sure pool lights are working well.
Electricity runs these lights too. Make sure there are no torn wires or no valve cracks to avoid accidents. These lights keep a romantic pool ambiance at night. It is better checked once a week for safety.
10. Keep pH level within 7.2-7.6 range.
Doing this will help both the cholorine’s efficiency and prevent algae from growing in the pool. There’s a water quality tester to help you check the pH level. This way, you would know when to do a pool shock.
It may look complicated but once you get used to the routine, it wouldn’t be as much anymore.
