The Hoke House: Twilight’s Cullen Family Residence

People around the world ready got hooked to the very impressive writing of Stephenie Meyer. The Twilight Saga not only made a big hit as a novel but also as a movie. People even got more passionate and enthusiastic when they have seen their favourite characters live on screen. The story was made more real to the people no matter how fictional it is. For some, Bella, Edward and Jacob were not mere characters of a hit story but are epitome of genuine love with unending understanding and full acceptance.

But of course, like the book, Twilight continued creating its movies until the recently released Breaking Dawn Part 1. Aside from the story that wowed millions of fans worldwide and the teen stars that certainly made their own names for the movie, there are still other great things about the movie. The choice of cars, homes, locations and even clothes were really appropriate as told in the book. No doubt, Meyer did a good job in researching and preparing for the novel even if she didn’t think that it would soon become a hit movie.

Let us take a look at one of the best things in the movie- The Cullen’s Residence. Just like the luxury house of Tony Stark in the movie Ironman, Many were impressed on the beauty of the house that truly suits to Meyer’s description of their luxury modern house located in a secluded area in the woods. The house is owned by John Hoke, a director of footwear design in Nike and for sure, he had great pride for having his house chosen for the movie. It was built in 2006 and was completed in 2007, just in time for the first Twilight movie. Let us take a look at the Hoke House.

Modern vampires like the Cullen family lives in a modern contemporary house. It is indeed amazing how Jeff Kovel of Skylab Architects conceptualized the design. The Cullens surely had a great time using John Hokes’ house. Aside from its great design, it also applies green architecture with its usage of green materials like wood. This is really appropriate for the location of the house in Portland.

The collaboration of Kovel, the Metcalf Construction and Lucy Metcalf as interior designer and landscaper was truly effective. The designers took advantage of nature and built the house on a natural slope. The use of natural materials in this sleek modern contemporary home suits to the vast forested greeny of the surroundings. The house itself is already a sure hit, what more if it is combined with a hit story and hit actors. It eventually resulted into a hit movie!
